Do You Need a Talent Manager? Here's the Honest Answer

My name is Karon Cash. I'm the founder and CEO of Wright Hands Management, a boutique talent management agency based in Los Angeles. I get this question almost every week — do I need a manager? And the honest answer is: it depends on where you are and what you're actually building.

Here's what a talent manager actually does. We develop your career strategy. We look at your strengths, your market positioning, and we help you build a path — not just chase auditions. We connect you with agents, casting directors, photographers, brands, and industry professionals. We negotiate on your behalf. We protect your interests in contracts. We are your long-term career partner.

Here's what a manager does NOT do. We are not your booking agent — that's an agent's job. We don't guarantee you work. We don't make careers out of people who aren't willing to put in the work themselves. Management amplifies what you already have. If there's nothing to amplify yet, we help you build it.

Signs you are ready for management: You have professional photos or a comp card. You have some experience — even student films, background work, or local shows count. You are coachable and take direction well. You are consistent — you show up, you follow through, you communicate professionally. You are serious about this as a career, not a hobby.

Signs you need to build a little more before management makes sense: You have no professional materials at all. You have never been on a set or in a casting room. You are not sure what type of work you want to pursue. You are not ready to invest in your career — photos, training, transportation, comp cards.

At Wright Hands Management we work with models, actors, commercial talent, influencers, and creatives at various stages. Our boutique model means you are not a number — you get real attention and real strategy.
